How Do I Get Started?
Let's face it. Finding a therapist can be a daunting task. You are probably asking yourself "How will I know which one is the right fit?" Having a great trust relationship with your therapist is important. That's why building a great therapeutic alliance is my number one priority. You might be initially hesitant to seek out help and support for personal matters, and that is okay. I will guide you, and address the best type of therapy for you during your initial consultation.
The telephone consultation is not a therapy session; the purpose of the call is to get to know your presenting problem and to learn more about my practice.
In the event we decide that we aren't a good fit, referrals to other therapists will be provided.
SOLUTION FOCUSED THERAPY
SFBT is future-focused, goal-directed, and focuses on solutions, rather than on the problems. The key concept is looking for previous solutions.
Individuals, couples and families can all benefit from narrative therapy. This model of counseling views people as separate from their problems. The goal is for you to see how there are positive and productive ways to approach your life and your future when you stop identifying yourself with your problems.

I Am New To Therapy What should I expect?
Someone wise once said, “Self-care is a continuous process of reflecting on your needs and investing in yourself to be the best version of yourself.” Understand, self-care is a lifestyle and continuous process of understanding your needs and investing in yourself. Eating healthier, exercise, and meditate regularly or taking a day off from work are all high points of reference to self-care. Create small and achievable goals instead of setting lofty expectations. So what is self-care? Self-care in essence is the mindful taking of time to pay attention to you in a way that ensures that you are being cared for by you.
Daily Self-Care Checklist
- Make your bed
- Eat at least two nourishing meals
- Write down or journal my thoughts
- Take a break
- Clean up your living space and workspace
Meditation & Mindfulness
The internet is flooded with information about the benefits of mindfulness and meditation and while both words are often used interchangeably, they are not the same.
Mindfulness is a quality that is associated with many mental health benefits and other positive attributes, such as self-esteem and self-acceptance (Thompson & Waltz, 2007). For these reasons, many therapists see mindful living as a worthwhile goal for their clients. Meditation is an intentional practice, where you focus to increase calmness, concentration, awareness, and emotional balance.
